ABOUT ME
Karen is an editor and proofreader with a focus on fiction editing—primarily, though not exclusively, for indie authors in the romance and young adult genres. She’s a proud holder of her Master’s degree in translation, specifically for French and English.
“I have always loved stories and languages, eager to escape into different, exciting worlds full of adventures and romance, or simply wanting to enjoy the beauty and emotion that can be conveyed by well-chosen words. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to be able to contribute in some way to this wonderful world of books, and my aptitude for languages fits that dream perfectly. I'm a detail-oriented stickler for all those pesky grammar and spelling rules, with respect for the vision and voice of the author, and a good grasp of the market tendencies of the genres I focus on.
After obtaining my Master's in translation, I’ve immersed myself in the written word and grammatical rules and exceptions, and exceptions to the exceptions, that the French and English languages have to offer. I've had the opportunity to serve as a beta reader, editor, and proofreader for several indie authors who have since encouraged me to start a business of my own.”
“Karen and I have been working on many projects since 2018, and I'm so incredibly grateful to have her by my side. She has an incredible eye for detail and is amazing at cleaning up my messy thought process. New book? Gotta hire Karen . . .” —Perin from Quin&Perin, authors of Black and the Obsessed series
“Karen began as my beta reader completely by chance. Immediately, I realized what an invaluable gem she was, and she's now my go-to editor. Her thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and creativity have helped me better shape several books. I'm so fortunate to have her!” —Kelley York, author of the Dark is the Night series
“It's been over two years since I first met Karen and she has become an invaluable part of my writing process. She's one of the first persons I contact whenever I'm not sure about something in my WIP. Whether it be pacing, character development, or the story arc, she's always able to pick up on the little things that had me initially questioning what I write. Especially when I feel like something is off but can't exactly pinpoint what, she's usually able to give great insight. Not only is she prompt and perceptive, but she can be relied upon to give you honest and direct feedback. She manages to do so quite well too without sucking the joy out of your work, and that's priceless.” —Gianni Holmes
